Day 2 Positivity Challenge & Friday Wisdom, 02/03/2012

Sharing with you my response (No.71) for Day 2 Positivity Challenge.

Who is One Friend You Appreciate Having? And Why?
Reflect and answer today’s question(s)

Over the years, I've had a few angels who came into my life disguised as friends.

In school, I remember one beautiful soul.  We studied together, look for jobs together and even went out on group dates together!  He he!  She eventually got married to a German guy and migrated to Germany.  I've visited her once.  She's been back to Singapore visiting her family at least once every two years so we've had the chance to renew our friendship.

Then at my previous job, I became very good friend with another beautiful soul.  We just clicked and became like sisters.  Unfortunately, we separated when I migrated to another country.  It's only in the last 3 years that I manage to locate her through Facebook.  Now, we call each other occasionally and connect via Facebook at other times for updates on each other.

When I was living in Sydney, I met another beautiful soul.  So kind and understanding, just like an elder sister or a mother.  She lighted up some of my darkest days and I'll always love her.  We keep in touch at least once or twice a year by telephone.

Now, I don't just have one.  In fact, I have two + two.  They are my two sisters and two stepsisters.  My two sisters and I have gone through quite a challenging childhood together, separated for a few years at one time when we lived in different countries and we have come full circle.  We live close by to each other and meet every week end for lunch or outings.

As for my two stepsisters, we just clicked and I see them growing up to be beautiful, kind and warm young women and I feel so much love for them.  I see my two stepsisters at least once a year in Kuala Lumpur and connect via Facebook and email at other times.

Let that friend in on your appreciation for him/her.
Yes, I have always expressed my appreciation for having these angels in my life.  And I feel in my heart that they appreciate having me in theirs, too.

Identify at least one positive thing about your day.
  • Recalling all these friends bring back happy memories.  Some of them I may not be meeting regularly or perhaps may never meet again but they have left beautiful imprints in my heart.
  • I am not alone. No matter what, all these people love me.  And, I in turn love them just as much.
  • This is part of the reason on why I am at peace and happy.

  1. Count me in too, as your friend@blog. :D

Enjoyed reading this. Being deprived of great friendships has made me understand what true friendship is all about. In this superficial world it is difficult to cross path with persons whom you can truly be friends with. But once we do find someone worth, we must cherish them forever.

    Those are lovely quotes.

Three cheers to everlasting friendship! :)

  2. How nice to recall these lovely memories Asni. It seems at each stage of your life you found precious people. Some of them stay always with us, while others leave our lives but the imprint is there forever.

Love the quotes you shared too!
Enjoy a relaxing and lovely day dear. xx

  3. I miss two friends who were friends for years, but sadly we drifted apart. I held onto those friendships long after my friends had moved on. Now I look at the friends I have now, some new, some for years. I know I am so lucky to be supported and loved by these fine people.
